These terms are the agreement between you and Yuriy Parfyonov, who operates #Interest ("we", "us"). By creating an account you accept them, and our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information.
1. Who can use #Interest
- You must be 18 or over. We close accounts that belong to anyone younger.
- One account per person, with a phone number that is yours.
- You must give accurate information about yourself, including your date of birth.
- You may not use #Interest if we have banned you before, or if the law where you live forbids it.
2. Your account
You sign in with a code we text to your phone or with a passkey. Keep your phone and passkeys secure: you are responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else has access to it, sign out everywhere from the app and tell us.
3. Meeting people
#Interest introduces people who want to do the same thing nearby. It does not run background checks, and a verification badge confirms only what it says — for example, that a person matched their photo — not that they are safe. You decide whether to meet, and you are responsible for your own interactions.
- Meet in a public place, and tell someone you trust where you are going — a safety plan does this for you.
- Leave if anything feels wrong. Block and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
#Interest is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number. Safety-plan texts depend on phone networks and other systems that can be delayed or fail; don't rely on them alone.
4. Rules
Don't use #Interest to:
- solicit or offer sex, or post sexual content — including advertising sexual services;
- harass, bully, threaten or intimidate anyone, or encourage violence;
- post hateful content about people for who they are;
- impersonate anyone, or create fake or duplicate accounts;
- involve anyone under 18;
- advertise, sell or spam;
- do anything illegal, or arrange anything illegal;
- try to work out where someone is more precisely than the app shows, or follow anyone;
- get around a block or a ban;
- collect other people's information, or access #Interest by automated means;
- interfere with the service or its security, or try to get around its limits.
5. Moderation and enforcement
Posts, notes and profiles are screened automatically, and reports are reviewed — those about physical safety first. If you break these terms we may remove content, restrict what your account can do, or ban it. A banned phone number can't be used to sign up again. If you think we got it wrong, write to support@theinterest.app.
6. Your content
What you post stays yours. You give us permission to store it, show it to other users as the app is designed to, and use it to run, protect and improve #Interest, for as long as we keep it — which is not long: see the Privacy Policy. Only post what you have the right to share.
7. Text messages
By entering your phone number to sign in, you agree to receive a one-time sign-in code by text each time you ask for one. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop texts, HELP for help. The full terms of our text messages are on the text messages page.
8. Safety contacts
When you make a safety plan, we text the contact you name. Name someone only with their agreement — the app asks you to confirm it. Your contact can reply STOP to stop receiving our texts.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your account in the app at any time; you have seven days to change your mind. An account unused for 90 days is deleted. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or when the law requires us to.
10. Changes
#Interest will change, and so may these terms. For a significant change to the terms we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use #Interest afterwards means you accept the new terms; if you don't, you can delete your account.
11. Disclaimers and liability
#Interest is provided "as is". We work to keep it available, accurate and safe, but we can't promise that it will always be, or that it will suit your purpose. We are not responsible for the conduct of anyone you meet through it, online or in person.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to US $100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live.
